    Danger

Personal injury due to electric shock

An energy sensor may only be installed by a qualified electrician when disconnected from the power supply. There is a risk of electric shock!

    Installation and configuration

    Janitza UMG 103-CBM

    Interface: RS485

    • Ensure the absence of voltage and verify it.
    • Terminate a long signal line with a 120 Ohm terminating resistor on the energy meter side.
    • Connect the energy meter to the EnergyManager as shown in the following diagram. Ensure that A and B are connected correctly to the RS-485 interface on the EnergyManager.
    • The Janitza UMG 103 is a converter meter. The meter must be programmed with the appropriate transformer ratio using the GridVis programming software supplied by the meter manufacturer. This requires a USB/RS485 cable and a notebook. Programming should be carried out on site in the installed state, as the meter loses its programming if the supply voltage is absent for a longer period of time.
    • Restore the power supply.

    Janitza B23 / Janitza ABB B23

    Interface: RS485

Only installations with one tariff (tariff 1) are supported.

    • Ensure the absence of voltage and verify it.
    • Terminate a long signal line with a 120 Ohm terminating resistor on the energy meter side.
    • Connect the meter to the EnergyManager as shown in the following diagram. Ensure that A37, B36 and C35 are connected correctly to the RS-485 interface on the EnergyManager.

    Device search in SmartSetup

    • Start the SmartSetup.
    • In the Select devices drop-down menu, select or search for the Janitza driver.
    • Select the interface to which the meter is connected.
    • Click Add device to search
    • Add further devices to the search if necessary.
    • When the search list is complete, click Search for and install devices.

Correctly installed devices appear in the device list with the message: Device is installed. The list also shows the current generation data.

    • If necessary, connect additional devices.
    • Continue with the SmartSetup.

    Correct error

The majority of communication problems are due to faulty cabling.

    Meter is not found

    • Check the connection of the device, rule out cable breaks in the connection cable.
    • Replace A and B.
    • Check the ground connection on the UMG 103.
    • The connection cables should not be laid together with cable bundles with high current loads.
    • Check, especially after resetting the energy meter, whether the following settings are stored in its configuration menu Communication:
      • Baud rate: 19200 bps
      • Parity: None

Energy meter was found, but is not sending any values or is not sending plausible values

    • Check whether the energy meter is connected to the correct interface of the gateway.
    • The correct converter ratio must be programmed into the UMG 103 using the GridVis software from Janitza
    • must be programmed in. Follow the instructions in the section Connecting the Janitza UMG 103-CBM and contact the manufacturer if necessary
    • the manufacturer if necessary.
    • Compare the load measured via the gateway with the information on the display of the energy meter,
    • if available.
    • The connection cables should not be laid together with cable bundles with high current loads.
