Glossary

BusConnection line for data transmission between several components of a network
Controller Area Network (CAN)serial bus system that connects several control devices with equal rights to each other
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)Communication protocol for the automatic Supply of IP addresses and other configuration parameters and settings
EnergyManagerIndustrial computer for monitoring and controlling energy flows in a household
Energy CloudData storage on the Internet, access portal for online access to your own energy data
EthernetStandard norm for data exchange in a local network between software and/or hardware
ENERGY SUPPLY COMPANYEnergy supply companies, primarily electricity supply companies, but in a broader sense also energy suppliers in the gas and district heating sector
ExtensionRail-mounted device for extending the interfaces of the EnergyManager - communicates with the EnergyManager via the extension bus.
Internet Protocol (IP)Connectionless protocol for addressing and fragmentation (splitting of data packets) of data packets
Communication protocolAgreement on how data is transferred between the components of a system; can be visualized as a dictionary
LSA+Solderless, screwless and stripping-free connection technology in which the insulation displacement connectors are at a 45° angle to the cable
Maximum Power Point - Tracker
(MPP - Tracker)
Microprocessor for determining the current MPP of a solar cell, so that the solar system is always operated at maximum capacity
ModbusCommunication protocol between clients (e.g. PC) and servers (e.g. measurement and control systems)
RS485Serial interface for data transmission
Power Data Gateway
(PDG)
Microcontroller for translating the Bluetooth signal into the network (only for MyReserve 20.2)
Power Line Communication (PLC)Refers to a technology that uses existing electrical lines in the GRID network to set up a local network for data transmission so that no additional cabling is required.1
S0Interface for the transmission of measured consumption values
InterfaceTerminal connection group on the EnergyManager. Physical connection point. Examples: S0-1, RS485-1, Ethernet
SunspecOpen communication protocol for transferring inverter data; based on Modbus
Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)Connection-oriented network protocol that regulates the type and manner of data transmission between network components; end-to-end connection for information exchange in both directions
DriverCommunication package ("dictionary") for a specific device. Is assigned to an interface so that the "language" of the respective device can be spoken on this interface. Examples: S0 driver, Janitza driver, SMA driver
User Datagram Protocol (UDP)Connectionless network protocol for data transmission, particularly suitable for low data throughput
Web UIThe Web UI is a web-based user interface (UI = User Interface) that can be used to configure the EnergyManager. The web UI can be accessed in the local network with a web browser (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer) via http://energymanager (Linux/Mac: http://energymanager.local).
